Abstract

Secondary title: User centred product design of indoor lamps
Secondary abstract: The master thesis gives an insight into the process of product design, in the case of the ambient light family. The theoretical chapters following the introduction give an overview of the field of lighting, with a focus on ambient lighting and illumination, and provide a description of the design process according to the product design methodology. The practical part of the thesis presents the entire process of product design, where the designer first, based on the empathizing process, defines the design starting points, then finds creative technical and design solutions, refines the concepts in the synthesis phase and develops products that meet the requirements of users, and during finalization shortly outlines a process that leads to a complete design solution. In summary, the conclusions about the relevance of the hypotheses presented in introduction are also commented. A comparison of two typical approaches to design a new product is given.
