Abstract

Po definiciji Svetovne zdravstvene organizacije so probiotiki »živi mikroorganizmi, ki imajo koristne učinke na zdravje gostitelja, kadar jih apliciramo v zadostnem številu.« Zdrava črevesna mikrobiota je pri bolnikih s kolorektalnim rakom zelo pomembna, saj se ta lahko zaradi bolezni ini operativnih posegov poruši, zato je pomembna podpora s probiotiki. Probiotiki in njihovo delovanje ter vpliv na zdravje ljudi je zelo dobro raziskano področje. Za določena stanja in bolezni je zelo pomembno, kateri sev probiotika uporabimo, kakšne kombinacije in v kakšnih količinah. Probiotiki lahko pri operacijah raka debelega črevesa pozitivno vplivajo na pooperativno okrevanje, zmanjšajo pojav infekcij ter pooperativnih zapletov.

Secondary abstract: According to the World Health Organization, probiotics are “live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefits on the host.” A healthy intestinal microbiota is very important in patients with colorectal cancer as it can be disrupted by disease and surgery, therefore support with probiotics is important. Probiotics and their action and impact on human health is a highly researched field. For certain conditions and diseases, it is very important which strain of probiotic we use and in what quantities. Probiotics can have a positive effect on postoperative recovery, reduce the occurrence of infections and postoperative complications.
