Abstract

Ostali kompleksi so bili sintetizirani z ligandi raziskovalne skupine prof. dr. B. Šketa. Slednjim ligandom sem predhodno preverila ustreznost in čistost, in sicer z 1H NMR spektroskopijo.

Secondary title: Copper complexes with diketonates
Secondary abstract: Antimicrobial and cytotoxic properties are well known for copper complexes which are thus researched as potential therapeutic agents. The aim of my thesis was synthesis and characterization of new copper complexes, which could be suitable for further biological investigations. I have prepared four copper complexes and characterized them with standard techniques – CHN analysis, UV-Vis and IR. First, I have synthesized complex, for which I used commercially available ligand avobenzone, which can be found in sunscreens. Further complexes were prepared with the ligands of the research group of prof. dr. B. Šket. The latter were initially checked for suitability and purity by 1H NMR and mass spectroscopy. Prepared complexes also need to suite purity criteria for further research and were therefore characterized by elemental CHN analysis. Additionally, UV-Vis and IR spectroscopy were performed. In case of copper complexes nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) cannot be used as a characterization tool as this kind of compounds are paramagnetic. I have tried to obtain suitable crystals for all the synthesized complexes. Unfortunately, crystals of sufficient quality were not formed so we were not able to determine their structures in the solid state.
