Abstract

V svoji diplomski nalogi sem v teoretičnem delu predstavila sistem socialnega varstva, značilnosti socialnega dela in ključna področja socialnega dela. Intervjuji so bili kvalitativno obdelani in analizirani.

Secondary title: Tasks and competencies of social workers in the center for social work Dolenjska and Bela krajina, Unit Novo mesto
Secondary abstract: In my thesis, in the theoretical part I presented the social protection system, characteristics of social work and key areas of social work. I also wrote about the existing theoretical frame on competencies. The second part stands for the research plan and the results that were obtained, conclusions and proposals that are based on the findings. I conducted my research at the Center for Social Work Dolenjska and Bela krajina, Novo mesto unit. The purpose of the research is to investigate work tasks of social workers in key areas, what knowledge do they need, what do they see as the biggest challenge, how do they feel in the work team and what makes them happy in their workplace and what would they change. The non-random sample included 5 professionals from different fields of social work ad CSD DBK. The interviews were qualitatevly processed and analyzed. It has beed established that professional competencies acquired trough formal education or non-formal education are of key importance in perfoming work tasks in a particular field in social work. Social workers in the workplace face specific challenges related to the field of work. They feel overwhelmed by imposition of new work tasks and time constraints from documenting, reporting and recording. A general reinforcement of staff is needed as it would solve or alleviate the hardships and obstacles faced by social workers. Opportunities for managing private and working life have been found to be good. In the qualities from which employees draw satisfaction and see advantages in managing private and working life it is necessary to continue to strengthen and maintain. These qualities affect the well-being of the team, which is also rated as good with room for improvement. Management has a key role to play in the work team and needs to continue to pay close attention to offering flexibility. The diploma thesis also contains suggestions for improvement.
