Abstract

Secondary abstract: The world changes very fast. If we compare the state today with the state at the beginning of 2020, it is obvious that the pandemic has changed the world drastically in a very short time. The same applies to the Information Technology sector – fast development and availability of IT result in capturing huge amounts of our personal data on the web every day, increasing the probability of its misuse and our concerns about its safety. This required a change in data protection regulation. General Data Protection Regulation came into force on May 25, 2018, and defined entirely new rights and obligations for individuals as well as organisations which process different types of data. GDPR is a direct action regulation which means that Slovenia is entitled to act on its provisions even though the Personal Data Protection Act still hasn't been confirmed and the final deadline for its effectiveness was no later than 2 years after GDPR came into force.
