Abstract

Secondary title: Impact of perceived risks on the acceptance of insideable technologies
Secondary abstract: We cannot imagine our everyday life without technological advances. Every day we come across new technologies with which we make our life easier. These novelties are not always well adopted by consumers. They decide whether they will use a product, or it will be consigned to oblivion. Our aim is to present the use of technological implants. There are two varieties: the first one is the use of technological implants for medical purposes and the implants to facilitate our everyday life. In our master’s degree thesis we are examining the reasons why the users are concerned or worried about accepting new technologies. We are particularly interested in security reasons and the risks that are the most important in their decision to adopt new technologies. We are examining the areas where the use of technical implants has not yet been massively adopted. In order to answer the question which risks influence the adoption of implantable technologies, we developed a research model based upon the technology acceptance model that includes the security aspects. For this purpose, we examined the current situation in the Slovenian territory using a survey questionnaire. The attitude towards use is most influenced by perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, and lesser by perceived data security and subjective norm. Surveillance concerns and privacy concerns does not significantly affect the attitute towards use. Behavioural intention is significantly influenced by attitute towards use. Age does n ot affect any variable, despite the fact that several studies has shown that young people are more susceptible to use the technological implants.
