diplomsko delo univerzitetnega študijskega programa Varstvoslovje
Abstract
Agresivnost in posledično nasilje v družini sta najpogostejši posledici alkoholizma.

Abuse of alcohol as trigger of violence in family |
Secondary abstract: |
This thesis discusses about the connection between an alcohol abuse and a domestic violence which are both considered to be a global problem in the society. An alcohol abuse is known to be a social problem and is affecting the whole community. Different amount of alcohol can cause different individual feelings and based on the individual person these can be either positive or negative. An alcohol abuse is the most frequent factor for development of domestic violence, which comes in different forms such as mental, physical, sexual and economic violence.
Domestic violence is not a one-off event but instead is a dynamic process. In Slovenia, every fourth person seems to be a victim of a domestic violence however, the statistical data imply that over the last few years a domestic violence is in steady decline. A domestic violence is a consequence of the social power abuse of a superior family member over an inferior family member. Most frequently the victims of domestic violence are females and children, while the abuser is a male member of the family.
Further, this study also revealed that 96% of surveyed participants (the majority), share the opinion that there exists a strong connection between and alcohol abuse and a domestic violence. The connection between an alcohol abuse and a domestic violence was also confirmed in many international studies, however, the findings among them were different where some of the researchers suggested that there exists a biological aspects for domestic violence while the others implies on sociological aspects.
An individual aggression and a consequent domestic violence are the most frequent reactions of alcohol abuse. Development of an individual aggressive behavior is influenced by numerous risk factors, among which the most common are personal charachteristics and an alcohol abuse.
An alcohol abuse is a socio-economic problem of modern society and as such we cannot turn a blind eye on it. In Slovenia many non-governmental organisations offer help to the victims of domestic violence and are constantly spreading awarness of this social problem. |
