Abstract

Problem predstavljajo pristopi in metode profiliranja, saj niso znanstveno in empirično podprti. Strokovnjaki, z različnih področij, še naprej poskušajo to metodo razvijati in jo približati znanstvenim pogojem.

Secondary title: Typologies of profiling serial killers
Secondary abstract: Profiling is a fairly new field that has already been extensively researched, but still lacks real credibility as a research tool. The problem are profiling approaches and methods, as they are not scientifically and empirically supported. Experts, from various fields, continue trying to develop the methodology and bring it closer to scientific conditions. Problematic is the fact that experts in most things (practically all) disagree. These opinion differences are not small, as the whole concept and perception of each one changes. However, not everything is so pessimistic, because many of them cooperate with each other and have a common goal - to design profiling in the way that it will scientifically serve its purpose, which is to determine the perpetrator's characteristics, based on physical and non-physical evidence at the crime scene. The goal of this dissertation is to study serial killers and their typology, and to examine their applicability and accuracy. For this purpose, it was necessary to study the typologies of all types of serial killers - men, women, couples and groups, professionals, homosexuals and children, and to determine their prevalence. The dissertation was created based on the literature of various experts who have researched profiling and typologies in details, in their books, scientific articles and various researches. Thesis covers the history and development of profiling, its methods and approaches, specific elements and applicability. Followed by basic distinction between multiple murders, where we focus on serial killers and typologies of all types.
