magistrsko delo

Abstract

Secondary title: Experiencing performance anxiety in musicians in connection to their self-image
Secondary abstract: In the present work the author asks how musicians aged 25 to 29 experience performance anxiety in connection with self-esteem. In the theoretical part the basic theoretical starting points, important for our field of research, are first presented: self-image, fear and anxiety, defense mechanisms and personal and psychological factors of successful musicians. The empirical part follows, in which the method of thematic analysis is presented and the results of the research, conducted with the method of thematic analysis, are presented. Data was obtained through semi-structured interviews, conducted with five participants, who have experience with musical performance. The results show that a musician’s self-esteem is associated with performing in the sense that some participants reported that performing from a young age had an impact on their self-esteem development, that bad performances can negatively affect their self-esteem and good performances have a positive effect. The effect of performance anxiety on self-esteem was not reported by participants.
