Abstract

Tehnološke inovacije, nedavne regulativne spremembe, COVID-19 in spremenjena potrošnikova pričakovanja so popolnoma spremenila potrošnikove nakupovalne in plačilne navade. Največje uporabne vrednosti mobilnih denarnic so priročnost, hitrost in enostavnost izvedbe mobilnega plačila. S PSD2 regulativo o plačilnih storitvah in odprtem bančništvu, kjer banke omogočijo dostop do komitentovih podatkov tudi tretjim zainteresiranim osebam, so banke zavezane k upoštevanju še višjih varnostnih standardov, saj zakonodaja želi potrošnika še bolj zaščititi.

Secondary abstract: Technological innovations, recent regulatory changes, COVID-19, and altered consumer expectations have completely changed consumer shopping and payment habits. Payments are irrevocably moving to smart devices which are becoming a digital version of our physical wallets. Payments with mobile or e-wallets are most often performed using contactless or NFC technology. The greatest use value of an mobile wallets is its convenience, quickness and simplicity of making a payment. The mobile wallet leverages several features of smartphone technology, such as a camera, fingerprint readers, biometrics, etc., which allows the user to perform secure authentication and thus prevent possible fraud. Security is the most important aspect of mobile mobile wallets in digital and mobile payments. People always prefer to use a payment method that provides a high level of security. Payment cards stored in an mobile wallet are more secure than the physical payment cards on account of built-in security mechanisms. Card data is not stored in the phone or a watch; the transaction is preformed through tokenization - OTP tokens or keys, which provides for greater security. With the emergence of fintech companies on the financial services market and the development of their own mobile wallets, the banks had to immediately take on the world of digitization by adapting their IT systems to remain competitive. Investments in the development of new technologies and banking services are thus essential, as they can significantly improve the user experience and enable a long-term reduction in operating costs. With the introduction of PSD2 regulation governing payment services and open banking, whereby the banks facilitate the access to customer data to third parties, the banks shall comply with even higher security standards as the legislation seeks to further protect the consumer. Confronting the fintech giants does not solely imply increased competition for the banks; it should be seen as the opportunity to exploit synergies and create favorable circumstances for progress in the area of mobile payments and new technologies.
