Abstract

Secondary title: The importance of self-examination in the early detection of precancerous changes on testicles
Secondary abstract: Introduction: The incidence of testicular cancer is increasing from year to year. In order to prevent or reduce it, it is extremely important that young men in particular realize the importance of performing testicular self-examination. The purpose of the final work was to determine men's knowledge about testicular cancer and self-examination and if they performing self-examination. Methods: We used a quantitative research methodology. We performed an online survey. As a data collection tool, we used a survey questionnaire answered by 100 adult men. Results: We found that all surveyed men are aware of the importance of self-examination of the testicles, but to a large extent they do not perform it (31 %) or perform it occasionally (46 %). They feel they have too little information and too little knowledge on the subject. Most encountered the concept of testicular self-examination at a systematic examination at school, on the Internet, and in the media. Men were of the opinion that the level of awareness and implementation of testicular self-examination was low (51 %). Discussion and conclusion: Men’s knowledge of testicular self-examination is low, so they want more to be talked about and promoted on this topic. Educational education-oriented self-examination activities could raise men's awareness of the importance of self-examination and the symptoms of testicular cancer.
