Abstract

Podatke iz terena smo uvozili v geografski informacijski sistem GIS in izdelali podatkovno bazo o lokacijah in stanju prebiralnih podlag v Sloveniji.

Secondary title: Open check dams on torrents in Slovenia
Secondary abstract: Open check dams are structures transversely placed on torrents. Their primary function is large woody debris (LWD) and sediment retention and controlled filtering of smaller fractions of sediment, therefore assuring contribution of renewing the riverbed downstream. The goal of the diploma thesis was to determine exact locations of open check dams in Slovenia and their condition. The field part of the diploma thesis was completed in four out of eight water management areas (WMA) in Slovenia, namely the Upper Sava WMA, the Drava WMA, the Savinja WMA and the Soča WMA. Data on locations of open check dams were obtained from representatives of companies performing the public utility service (PUS) in the field of water management. We measured the dimensions of each open check dam, photographed it and assessed its condition. There are 24 open check dams in Slovenia, of which the most (11) are located in the Upper Sava WMA and the least (2) are located in the Drava WMA. There are 6 open check dams in the Savinja WMA and 5 in the Soča WMA. Out of 24 open check dams, 20 are still performing its primary function, and 4 don't due to overfilling of the accumulation space behind the open check dam. We imported data gathered on the field into the GIS geographic information system and created a database on the locations and condition of the open check dams in Slovenia.
