Abstract

Secondary abstract: Some students of primary teacher education at the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Education have a negative attitude towards the use of standard Slovene in the classroom. They find it too formal and believe that a teacher who uses the standard language cannot get close to the pupils. Through a student survey, we wanted to find out how prevalent is the negative attitude towards the use of the standard language in the classroom and why. Regardless of the subject taught, teachers are a role model for the students, so we wish to emphasize the importance of the use of the standard language during lessons.
