Abstract

Secondary abstract: Every person has a distinct personality that makes him or her unique. There are many different factors weighing in on it that constantly effect the forming and changing of personality. In this thesis, the personality that is predominant in the first year students of the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security is being analysed using a theoretical-analytical method. We wanted to research and find out which personality dimensions are dominant and to what extent they are connected with working positions within criminal justice and security sector. Finally, the research tries to compare these results to those of students from the United States of America and Great Britain. The research consists of data gathered in a questionnaire that took place on the website 1KA. Questionnaires that also included personality test Mini-IPIP were sent to the first year students of the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security. Seventy-three students have successfully solved this questionnaire. Conclusion consists of findings that are based on analysis of personality test Mini-IPIP results. The analysis showed a connection between certain personality traits and professions, such as security guard, security engineer, safety manager, faculty worker, safety inspector, customs officer, forensic, judicial officer and court expert. Average results on personality dimensions differ between foreign students and Slovene students. The main differences were seen in comparison to British students, while differences with American students were minimal. The only variance in comparison to American students showed in the dimension of agreeableness. However, difference with British students showed in dimensions of agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness to new experience.
