Abstract

Secondary title: Psychological aspect of sports injuries
Secondary abstract: In my diploma thesis, I define what sports injuries are, and with the method of documentation analysis I found that they are mainly the result of extreme stress and overload to which athletes are exposed. They react to injuries with a lot of emotions, fear, anger or depression. Through research, I have identified the importance of psychological factors that influence the success of rehabilitation after injury. I used a survey method, to find out how our participants react to injuries, among whom professional athletes predominate, on average 21 years old, a good three quarters of them are female. Most looked for the help of a physiotherapist or personal trainer, a large proportion of respondents underwent rehabilitation on their own, and some required surgery. The analysis of the survey showed that injuries affect the motivation of athletes, as it decreased significantly during rehabilitation, and after returning, it increased again. Through research, I found that the success of rehabilitation largely depends on the social support provided to injured athletes, especially by their families.
