Abstract

Merili smo parametre telesnih razsežnosti in sestave telesa: obseg pasu, kožno gubo tricepsa, telesno težo in višino, proteine in minerale v telesu, maščevje ter indeks telesne mase (ITM). Telesno sestavo smo izmerili s pomočjo bioimpedančnega merilnika IOI 353. Zbrane podatke smo obdelali s statističnim programom SPSS.

Secondary abstract: This master's thesis investigates differences in body dimensions between differently academically successful pupils in Physical Education. Pupils from the second period of primary school from various schools in Slovenia, aged 9 to 11, took part in the research. The study sample included 467 pupils form the following schools: Podčetrtek Primary School, Franjo Malgaj Primary School, Lovrenc na Pohorju Primary School, Mala Nedelja Primary School, Franc Rozman - Stane Primary School, Rogaška Slatina Primary School I, Tone Čufar Primary School and Starše Primary School. The pupils have been divided by gender and by learning performance. Parameters of body dimensions and body composition have been measured: waist circumference, triceps skinfold, body weight and height, proteins and minerals in the body, fat and body mass index. We used bioimpedance measurement of human body composition using the IOI 353 body composition analyser in the study. Measurements of the body composition were obtained using two-frequency bioelectric impedance analysis. The collected data were processed and analysed using the SPSS statistical programme. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to verify differences between pupils with different learning outcomes and body composition segments. Differences in body dimensions and body composition between differently academically successful pupils were defined in more detail with the Scheffe's post-hoc test. The results indicate that there are differences between more, intermediate and less academically successful pupils in physical dimensions and body composition. The results show that pupils with good academic performance have less fat, lower waist circumference, lower body weight at a similar height, and less skin fold than less successful pupils. Therefore, we can conclude that pupils with good academic performance live a healthier lifestyle than their less successful peers.
