magistrska naloga študijskega programa druge stopnje
Abstract

This dissertation deals with the organizational culture in the case of the Slovenian national postal operator, Post of Slovenia, which is, accompanied by its units, present throughout the whole Slovenian territory. An empirical study have not yet been made concerning this subject, not even inside or outside our company, which makes ours the first one on this field and the
first to that extent. The main purpose of this dissertation is to present the theoretical view of organizational culture in companies, to explain the occurrence and the meaning of cultural phenomenon, and to present the typology, which together with the appropriate tools, helped us to empirically examine the organizational culture in our company and consequently to see what are the options for all the potential practical improvements in the future practice. The goal is to get to know the organizational culture, with other words, to see which the dominant type of organizational culture in the company is, for which we used the well-established and sufficiently verified Questionnaire OCAI Cameron and Quinn. We were interested in whether any statistical differences between individual business units will show and, as well as, whether there are any differences in quality and content in the perception of organizational culture among business units’ managers and other employees. To this end, we conducted further qualitative empirical study of business units’ managers, using in-depth interviews. This was followed by analysis of primary data obtained from questionnaires and interviews and the presentation and interpretation of the results obtained. Our assumption to discover many considerable differences between the individual business units from different regions of Slovenia is only partially true, as we can confirm only one of the four hypotheses. The final result of our efforts can therefore be the basis for all further empirical studies in the academic environment, as well as the message to the managements of large corporations to better understand this phenomenon and potentially lead to take further steps in everyday business practice. |
