Abstract

Secondary title: Family-centered care in pediatric oncology
Secondary abstract: Family-centered health care is the most modern and appropriate method of caring for a child with cancer. Many authors still report the difficulty of implementing the concept in a clinical setting. The purpose of the research is to determine the perception and practice of professionals who work as a multidisciplinary team in the field of pediatric oncology in our environment. The research is based on a quantitative methodology. All data are statistically processed with the SPSS program, version 25. The research showed that the organization is focused on the implementation of family-centered health care (x̄ = 2.42, σ = 0.614). A multidisciplinary team involves parents in child health care activities (x̄ = 2.01, σ = 0.580), but should deepen awareness of the importance of caring for the whole family. Understanding of the concept does not differ according to the education or work experience of professionals (p> 0.05), but there are tendencies between professionals with the least and most work experience (p
