Abstract

Secondary abstract: Slovene is a gender sensitive language, with the category of gender being expressed with nouns, adjectives, verbs and pronouns. The extensive possibilities for grammatical expression of gender can be seen in the word formation system, which offers, usually through the procedure of derivation, the chance of forming an expression for the female person. This paper presents the use of feminine forms in texts that point to the greater presence of women in public life, for the use of female grammatical forms is connected with expressions for female persons, whereas the use of male grammatical forms has two meanings: expressions for male persons and for gender unmarked.
