Abstract

Uvod: Učinkovita komunikacija predstavlja temelj za zagotavljanje kakovostne in varne zdravstvene obravnave, s tem pa se zmanjšajo neželeni dogodki ter napake. Vsem zaposlenim mora biti varnost pacientov na prvem mestu, ob storjeni napaki moramo biti iskreni, priznati in napako odpraviti. Namen zaključnega dela je predstaviti vpliv komunikacijskih napak na pojavnost in vrsto neželenih dogodkov. Metode: V zaključnem delu smo izvedli sistematični pregled strokovne literature, ki se je navezovala na tematiko o vplivu komunikacijskih napak na pojavnost in vrsto neželenih dogodkov v operacijski dvorani. Uporabili smo deskriptivno metodo dela in metodo povzemanja, komparacije ter kompilacije. Izvedli smo kritično oceno člankov in naredili analizo ter sintezo člankov. Izvedli smo tematsko analizo. Članke smo iskali po bazah podatkov, in sicer: SAGE journals, PubMed, Web of Science ter ScienceDirect. Rezultati: Komunikacijske napake so v 56 % vzrok za operativne oziroma pooperativne zaplete, v 69 % primerov pride zaradi le-teh do zamenjave pacietov oziroma do napačnih postopkov. Napake v komunikaciji predvsem vplivajo na povečano obolevnost, umrljivost, odpoved operativnih posegov, podaljšano hospitalizacijo, višjo stopnjo stresa za zaposlene, učinkovitost posega se zmanjša, večje finančno breme za organizacijo in nepotrebne preiskave. Razprava in sklep: Neustrezna komunikacija predstavlja najpogostejši dejavnik za nastanek neželenih dogodkov v operacijski dvorani. Nekatere izmed posledic neustrezne komunikacije v operacijski dvorani so zamude, telesne poškodbe, nepravilno štetje inštrumentov in materiala, invalidnost, smrtnost. Komunikacijske napake imajo velik vpliv na pojavnost neželenih dogodkov.

Secondary abstract: Introduction: Effective communication is the foundation for ensuring quality and safe medical treatment, thereby reducing adverse events and errors. For all employees, patient safety must come first, and in the case of a mistake, we must be honest, acknowledge and correct the mistake. The purpose of the final work is to represent the impact of communication errors on the incidence and type of adverse events. Methods: In the final work, we performed a systematic review of the professional literature, which was related to the topic of the impact of communication errors on the incidence and type of adverse events in the operating room. We used a descriptive method of work and a method of summarizing, comparing and compiling. We performed is a critical evaluation of the articles and did an analysis and synthesis of the articles. We performed a thematic analysis. We searched for articles in databases, namely: SAGE journals, PubMed, Web of Science and ScienceDirect. Results: In 56% of cases, communication errors are the cause of operative or postoperative complications, and in 69% of cases they are the reason for replacement of patients or incorrect procedures. Communication errors mainly affect increased morbidity, mortality, cancellations of surgical procedures, prolonged hospitalization, higher stress levels for employees, reduced effectiveness of the procedure, higher financial burden for the organization and unnecessary examinations. Discussion and conclusion: Inadequate communication is the most common factor for the occurrence of adverse events in the operating room. Some of the consequences of inadequate communication in the operating room are delays, injuries, incorrect counting of instruments and materials, disability, mortality. Communication errors have a major impact on the incidence of adverse events.
