Abstract

Secondary title: Simulation of cardio-pulmonar resuscitation of patient with COVID-19 infection
Secondary abstract: Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the treatment of critically ill patients in a prehospital setting. In order to successfully prevent the spread of infections, it is essential to provide appropriate professional training for healthcare professionals, in addition to the proper use of personal protective equipment. Simulation is a modern training method that has proven to be very suitable for improving action in high-risk or stressful interventions. Methods: Based on literature data, we presented information about the impact of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on patient resuscitation, the use of personal protective equipment, and the benefits of simulation-based training. In the empirical section of the research, we investigated the influence of the use of personal protective equipment on the resuscitation of a patient with COVID-19 infection with the help of simulations. Results: We concluded that putting on personal protective equipment prolongs response time. Although working in this type of equipment is physically more strenuous, its use does not have a significant negative impact on the treatment of a patient nor does it make communication between team members considerably more difficult. Discussion and conclusion: The use of personal protective equipment has a certain impact on resuscitation. Simulations add value to training, therefore it would be very useful to include them in the joint and continuing professional development for members of all units involved in the provision of emergency medical care.
