Abstract

Do sedaj so znani heksa(piridin-2-il)benzen kompleksi s štirimi kovinami prehoda, in sicer z Ru(II), Pd(II), Pt(II), Cu(I ali II).

Secondary title: Investigation of catalytic properties of metal complexes based on hexaarylbenzene ligands
Secondary abstract: The goal of this master thesis was to study catalytic properties of transition metal complexes with polypiridine ligands on selected model reactions. Stable transition metal complexes with pyridine structures as supporting ligands are important compounds in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. Hexa(2-pyridyl)benzene is a compound with six nitrogen sites, capable of forming six coordinating bonds, which makes it a polidentate ligand. Until now, there are known hexa(2-pyridyl)benzene complexes with four transition metals: Ru(II), Pd(II), Pt(II), Cu(I or II). We have synthesized some of the already known hexa(2-pyridil)benzene complexes with transition metals. We were interested in their catalytic activity. They were tested with model reactions of C–H bond activation and Suzuki reaction. By changing the solvent, we inspected if it has influence on reaction performance. We were also interested in the difference of reaction kinetics when using our catalyst or commercially available ones. We managed to coordinate Cu(II) on Ru(II) hexa(2-pyridyl)benzene complex to obtain mixed metal complex, which could potentially be used as bifunctional catalyst in further organic reactions.
