magistrsko delo
Abstract
V raziskavo so bile vključene odrasle posvojene osebe. Podatki so bili zbrani s pomočjo polstrukturiranega pogovora, demografskega vprašalnika in lestvice. V večini primerov so seznanitev izvedli posvojitelji.

Coping with adoption in adult adoptees |
Secondary abstract: |
In my master's thesis, I studied various aspects of adoption in adoptees. I focused on the characteristics of adoption disclosure and conversation about adoption in the families of adoptees. I was interested in what questions and when they most often arise in adoptees and what are their experiences with other people's responses. I also examined if there are differences in the perceived communication openness in the family according to the age of the adoptees at disclosure. Adult adoptees were included in the study. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview, a demographic questionnaire, and a scale. The age at which participants learned they were adopted varies, but all were informed of the adoption early. In most cases, the disclosure was made by adoptive parents. The attitude of the adoptive parents towards the conversation about adoption was different. Many participants said that adoptive parents were willing to answer their questions. The frequency of occurrence of each question from the set of questions varied. The most common was the question of whether their lives could be different. Participants also cited other examples of questions. The timing of the questions also varies but is somehow most related to the developmental stages of middle and late childhood and adolescence. Participants more often reported about positive than negative responses they received from other people when they shared with them that they are adopted. I found that there are no differences between participants in the perception of communication openness in the family according to their age at the time of the disclosure. An important contribution of the master's thesis is also formulated recommendations for the discussion about adoption. |
