analiza filma Matrica
Leana Herak (Author), Peter Stanković (Mentor)

Abstract

Secondary title: Fairy-tale elements in Hollywood fiction films: an analysis of the film The Matrix
Secondary abstract: Due to their incredible ability to adapt to different social and technological conditions, fairy tales have been transferred from oral tradition to literary form and to various other modern media. The diploma thesis addresses the question of the presence of fairy-tale elements in the Hollywood fiction film The Matrix (1999). In the theoretical part, the definition, a short history and functions of the fairy tale are highlighted, and the elements of the fairy tale are defined through structuralist approaches. The second part of the diploma thesis contains an analysis of the presence of these elements in the case of the selected film and references between the film and existing fairy tales. The results showed that the film contains fairy-tale functions and roles of characters as well as other fairy-tale elements such as the structure of time, space, the main character, good and evil etc. On an intertextual level, the film is also connected to the fairy tales of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Alice in the Mirror, The Wizard of Oz, Little Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast. In the conclusion, the findings of the analysis are connected with the concept of the cultural industry, which makes it possible to understand the fairy tale as a cultural form that is massively transmitted through the Hollywood entertainment industry.
