diplomska naloga
Abstract
Diplomska naloga predstavlja položaj žensk v punk subkulturi, predvsem razmerje med
spoloma in njihovo aktivno udejstvovanje v punk glasbi.
izražanja, načelo DIY (»naredi sam«), vlogo fanzinov in načelo non-profit (neprofitnosti).
začetka delovanja v devetdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja vse do danes.
Empirični del diplomske naloge zajema predstavitev in interpretacijo rezultatov kvalitativne
raziskave. S pomočjo individualnih, polstrukturiranih intervjujev so pridobljeni podatki,
potrebni za analizo empirične raziskave. Intervjuji so opravljeni s šestimi glasbenicami, ki so
aktivne v punk subkulturi.

This present undergraduate thesis presents the position of women in punk subculture,
focusing mainly on the difference between the genders and the active approach of women in
punk music. With the development of music, the punk subculture also started to develop and
grow. In this subculture women found their place where they were able to express their
creativity and thus they became more and more involved. In this present undergraduate thesis
I am describing the punk subculture worldwide as well as in Slovenia and the main elements
of this subculture. The first chapter includes ways of expressing in the subculture, the
principle of DIY (“Do it yourself”), the role of fanzines, and the role of the non-profit
principle. The following chapter focuses on the history of the Riot Grrrl movement, from its
beginning in the early nineties until today. The chapter also presents and describes the role of
music, fanzines and the most important active musical bands, that have left a mark in the Riot
Grrrl movement. Further on, follows the chapter dedicated to women in the punk subculture.
It describes their integration, starting with the early years and up till today. Further on I’m
describing the problems of women in this subculture, for this is a subculture dominated
mainly by male representatives. Lyrics that represent strong social, political and feminist
opinions are presented in the last chapter of the theoretical part of this undergraduate thesis.
The empirical part of this undergraduate thesis covers the presentation and the interpretation
of the results of the qualitative research. With the help of individual and half-structured
interviews I have obtained the information, necessary for the analysis of the empirical
research. The interviews have been carried out with six female musicians, which are actively
involved in the punk subculture. The goal of the undergraduate thesis is to obtain the answers
to the main research question regarding the equivalent position of women in the punk
subculture.
With the help of research, I obtained positive answers from the majority of the interviewed
women regarding the question of the equivalent position of women in the punk subculture. |
