Abstract

Secondary title: Effect of COVID-19 pandemic on individuals with down syndrome
Secondary abstract: COVID-19 is an infectious disease that has spread around the globe to cause a global pandemic. For epidemiologic purposes, nations worldwide have instituted various restrictions and mandates to combat the spread of the virus, such as mask-wearing and hand hygiene. However, some vulnerable groups have remained forgotten, and the effect of the pandemic on them has been neglected. The purpose of this work is to illustrate how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected people with Down's syndrome. We found that people with Down's syndrome have an increased risk of poor outcomes of COVID-19. There is a lack of Slovenian literature and research about this topic. The foreign literature presents recommendations for the population of people with Down's syndrome, which can also help our environment.
