diplomsko delo visokošolskega strokovnega študija
Sara Golob (Author), Boris Prevolšek (Mentor)

Abstract

Secondary title: Analysis of tourism as a supplementary activity on a farm and survey of self-supply of tourist farms in Slovenske gorice
Secondary abstract: Rural tourism is becoming one of the most important types of Slovenian tourism. The final work consists of a theoretical part, in which we used the professional and scientific literature to define theoretical starting points, such as tourism, rural tourism, Slovenian farms, farms with supplementary activity, farms with tourist supplementary activity, food self-sufficiency and research area (Slovenske gorice). In the empirical part of the final work, we used a quantitative methodology. We conducted anonymous online polls with tourist farms in the area of Slovenske gorice. After analyzing online polls, we evaluated the research and found that most tourist farms in Slovenske gorice have registered tourist activity as a complementary activity on the farm, because, this way they access an additional source of income, improved rural life and opportunities for new employments. Most tourist farms in Slovenske gorice have food self-sufficiency, despite the fact that it represents a larger financial burden than buying raw materials and products in stores and from local providers. They have good experiences with their own production of raw materials and processing. Through the final work, we found that food self-sufficiency, according to the respondents, is not well enough included in the offer of tourist farms in Slovenske gorice, but it is still well recognized as one of the leading features of rural tourism. Based on the results, we made suggestions for improving the recognition and promotion of food self-sufficiency on tourist farms in Slovenske gorice.
