Abstract

Razprava in sklep: Rezultati raziskave dokazujejo zadovoljivo znanje lokalnih prvih posredovalcev o nudenju prve pomoči ob srčnem zastoju.

Secondary title: Community first responders knowledge of first aid for cardiac arrest
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Sudden cardiac arrest represents a major concern for public health in the world. It occurs as a cessation of cardiac activity and is frequently a cause of death. Early action improves survival chances and helps to develop better neurological outcome after resuscitation. The activities of first responders are aimed at performing early basic resuscitation and defibrillation procedures. First responders reach the patient earlier than the rescue team, which improving rapid access time and early action. Methods: We used a quantitative research methodology and obtained data by surveying. For theoretical part, we used a descriptive research methodology. The empirical part of the diploma work consists of an anonymous structured questionnaire, which consists of two parts. Results: 52 first responders were included in the research. The analysis of the results of the research shows that the local first responders of the municipality of Polzela have satisfactory knowledge about cardiac arrest and the provision of first aid in case of cardiac arrest. Discussion and conclusion: The results of the research prove the satisfactory knowledge of local first responders about providing first aid in case of cardiac arrest. We can conclude that the often acquired knowledge is eventually forgotten, so an annual renewal of knowledge in this area would be necessary. It would be good to make laypeople aware of the importance of basic resuscitation procedures.
