Abstract

Secondary title: Analytical demonstration of the fine arts creativity level among elementary school students
Secondary abstract: Analytical demonstration of the fine arts creativity level among elementary school students is a Master's thesis consisting of a theoretical and empirical part. The opening chapters introduce fine arts creativity, creative thinking, which is determined by divergent and convergent thinking, and the influences of the environment on creativity. Stages of artistic expression, and the development of fine arts skills with an emphasis on students in the third cycle of primary school, are also described. Later on, we have defined fine arts creativity and its factors, and how creativity can be encouraged or hindered. Additionally, we have included some research that dealt with creativity or helped to understand students' artistic expression. The empirical part of the Master's thesis encompasses the results of a research, whose purpose was to analyse the level of fine arts creativity of 8th-grade students from various primary schools in the Maribor area. Moreover, we have examined the relationship between the factors of fine arts creativity. The results revealed that the level of fine arts creativity, from the point of view of gender, showed statistically significant differences in only one factor - fluency, with the girls being more successful. There was a tendency of elaboration and flexibility, where girls achieved slightly better results as well. From a stratum point of view, statistically significant differences in elaboration, sensitivity to art problems, and fluency, were detected in favour of suburban students. The analysis of the connection between factors encouraging fine arts creativity proved creativity to be positive and statistically significant. It also indicated that similarly poorer results were achieved by younger children in the previous study (Herzog, 2009), especially in factors that allow fine arts creativity (redefinition, fluency and elaboration). This means that both younger students and students at the end of primary school do not achieve particular average results in some factors of fine arts creativity.
