Abstract

V dani diplomski nalogi smo torej opisali temni splet, raziskovali njegovo anonimno uporabo in skušali ugotoviti teoretične razloge za njegov nadaljnji obstoj oziroma ukinitev.

Secondary title: Deanonymization of dark web users
Secondary abstract: At a time when the boundary between private and public use of the Internet is increasingly blurred, most people still think that only classic browsers are available and that they can access all the information on the Internet. In reality, the latter space represents a rather small proportion, called the surface or visible web. Below it is a much larger layer called the deep web, and even deeper is the dark web, which can only be accessed using special software that allows us anonymity. In this assignment, we therefore described the dark web, investigated its anonymous use, and tried to identify theoretical reasons for its continued existence or abolition. The research problem from which we came out is thus the ever-present deanonymization of users of the dark web, which today represents the last space for most users, offering them anonymous use of the web. As the majority of the population is not aware of the dark web or associated only with illegal activity, it was also important to demonstrate the multiple uses of the dark web while finding key reasons for resisting the increasingly frequent deanonymization of the user. Therefore, we believe that both the counterargument and the useful or positive side of interrupting the anonymous use of the (dark) web are crucial to the task of exploring pressing deanonymization. The first phase was obtained by exploring different types of dark web users, describing anonymization tools, stating reasons for maintaining anonymity, as well as finding the benefits and ways to establish deanonymization and partial user identification. The practical part of the assignment was based on the analysis of an interview with three regular users of the dark web, who were asked about key reasons for use, user experience and their opinion on anonymity as such. Finally, a discussion followed in which we compared the findings of theory and concrete user experience.
