Secondary title: | Comparison of international competitiveness of selected European countries |
Secondary abstract: | One of the key priorities in achieving a long-term development of the country is strengthening the competitiveness of its economy. This diploma thesis seeks to address the concept of international competitiveness by taking into account different authors and economic schools, and it highlights the key factors in achieving international competitiveness. We examined the competitiveness of different countries using the WEF and IMD assessment methodologies while at the same time the shortcomings and limitations of the two methodologies in question were exposed as well. It was established that the concept of competitiveness is explained heterogeneously and is often defined only theoretically and by using various different methodologies. This thesis also examines five different European countries on the basis of various partial indicators of competitiveness in the period between 2008 and 2019. Based on the statistical data, we identified the competitive advantages of the selected European economies and outlined the challenges related to their economic policies. |
