Abstract

V diplomskem delu smo izdelali programsko opremo, ki bi z uporabo kompresijskega postopka brez izgub zmanjšala velikost datotek in minimizirala čas pošiljanja oz. naredila sistem v vesolju bolj odziven. Naredili smo splošni pregled algoritmov za kompresijo in za glavni algoritem izbrali CCSDS 121.0-B-2 ter ga primerjali s sorodnima algoritmoma LZW in Heatshrink. Testiranje smo izvedli nad sivinskimi slikami in binarnem zapisu, ki smo ga zajeli iz GPS-a. Najbolj primeren algoritem za stiskanje sivinskih slik je CCSDS 121.0-B-2, zaradi kompresijskega razmerja in časa kompresije. Najbolj primeren algoritem za stiskanje krajših binarnih zapisov pa Heatshrink, zaradi kompresijskega razmerja in izredno kratkega časa dekompresije.

Secondary title: Lossless compression process for embedded systems
Secondary abstract: In this thesis, we developed a software which would use compression to reduce the size of a file without losing any information, minimize the sending time and make the system in space more responsive. We made a brief overview of algorithms used for compression. For our main algorithm we chose the CCSDS 121.0-B-2, which we compared to similar lossless algorithms LZW and Heatshrink. Testing was made with grayscale images and binary data taken from the GPS. The most suitable algorithm for compression of grayscale images was CCSDS 121.0-B-2, because of its compression ratio and compression time. The most suitable algorithm for compression of smaller binary data is Heatshrink, reason being its compression ratio and exceptionally fast decompression time.
