Abstract

Z višanjem življenjskega standarda in rastjo prebivalstva se slabša kakovost vode in vodnih virov. Kakovost vode določamo preko izbranih parametrov mikrobiološke kontaminacije, in sicer preko prisotnosti bakterij in virusov. Pod določenimi pogoji lahko virusi dlje časa preživijo v okolju brez gostitelja in prenašajo okužbe preko vodnih okolij, kar predstavlja tveganje za zdravje. Enega izmed zanesljivih in učinkovitih načinov čiščenja odpadnih vod predstavljajo napredni oksidacijski procesi, ki temeljijo na nastanku močnega oksidanta (največkrat hidroksilnega radikala). Slednji povzroči oksidacijo snovi, kar vodi do popolne deaktivacije in razgradnje patogenih onesnaževal. S pregledom dostopne literature in raziskav na področju odstranjevanja virusov z naprednimi oksidacijskimi procesi lahko zanesljivo ovrednotimo uporabnost in učinkovitost naprednih oksidacijskih procesov za čiščenje odpadnih komunalnih vod. Vsi preiskani napredni oksidacijski procesi so izkazali učinkovito deaktivacijo in razgradnjo virusov.

Secondary abstract: As living standards and population growth increase, the quality of water and water resources is deteriorating. Water quality is determined through selected parameters of microbiological contamination, namely through the presence of bacteria and viruses. Under certain conditions, viruses can survive for a long time in the environment and transmit infections through aquatic environments, posing a health risk. One of the reliable and efficient ways of wastewater treatment is advanced oxidation processes based on the formation of a strong oxidizing agent (usually a hydroxyl radical). The latter causes the oxidation of the substance, leading to a complete deactivation and decomposition of pathogenic pollutants. By reviewing the available literature and research in the field of virus removal by advanced oxidation processes, we can reliably evaluate the usability and efficiency of advanced oxidation processes for municipal wastewater treatment. All reviewed advanced oxidation processes demonstrated effective virus inactivation and degradation.
