Abstract

V zaključnem delu se ukvarjamo z van lifom kot novo obliko življenjskostilne mobilnosti, ki je na družbenem omrežju Instagram postala nadvse popularna. Zanima nas, kako se skozi van life objave na Instagramu konstruira turistični pogled. Natančneje, ugotoviti želimo, kakšne so ustaljene vizualne konvencije uprizarjanja van life življenjskega stila na Instagramu ter kakšne so prevladujoče semiotične kode v teh objavah in kaj sporočajo. Pri raziskavi smo opravili kvantitativno in kvalitativno analizo. V kvantitativno analizo vsebine objav smo zajeli 158 enot analize (fotografij in posnetkov), objavljenih na treh javno dostopnih in popularnih Instagram profilih v izbranem časovnem obdobju. Kvalitativno oz. semiotično analizo, v kateri smo se ukvarjali s samimi pomeni podob, pa smo opravili na izboru reprezentativnih fotografij van life. Ugotavljamo, da podobe narave in antiselfiji/antisebki prikazujejo hedonizem, svobodo, avanturo in skupaj kreirajo romantični turistični pogled. Ustaljene vizualne konvencije so predvsem elementi narave in antisebki. Prevladujoči semiotični znaki in kode so nasmejani obrazi, uživanje v minimalizmu in preprostih stvareh ter nevsakdanje aktivnosti. Podobe komunicirajo ključne vrednote van life življenjskega stila, kot so hedonizem, povezanost z naravo, svoboda in avantura ter tako konstruirajo romantični turistični pogled.

Secondary title: Demonstration of van lifestyle and construction of a tourist gaze on Instagram
Secondary abstract: In this thesis, we explore van life as new lifestyle mobility, which gained popularity on Instagram. We are interested in how a tourist gaze is constructed through van life posts on Instagram. Specifically, we want to identify the visual conventions of staging a van life stale on Instagram. We want to find which semiotic codes prevail in the posts and what are their messages. In the research, we conducted a quantitative and qualitative analysis. The quantitative analysis of posts included 158 units (photos and videos) that were posted on three public and popular Instagram profiles in a selected time period. In the qualitative or semiotic analysis, the meaning of images was researched. The qualitative analysis was carried out based on the selection of representative van life photos. The images of nature and anti-selfies show hedonism, freedom, and adventure, which constructs a romantic tourist view. Moreover, the established visual conventions are the elements of nature and anti-selfies, while predominant semiotic signs and codes are smiling faces, minimalism, and unusual activities. The images communicate key values of van life lifestyle, such as hedonism, retreats into nature, freedom and adventure, and thus construct a romantic tourist gaze.
