Abstract

Ultrasonic quality examiniation of welded joints |
Secondary abstract: |
This study is about ultrasonic examination of welded joints in testing of welders. MIG/MAG welding is one of the most common processes of welding steel structural elements. Even though this welding method is quite simple and appropriate to robotize, there is still needed many certified welders in the industry. Ultrasonic examination is widespread and has a big role in testing of welded joints during the process of certification of welders. Apart from that, we can reduce maintenance expenses by inspecting the welds with ultrasound before allowing the construction to be used in industrial environment. The tested welds were made by two different experienced welders who used different welding parameters. The quality of welds was inspected using non-destructive method of ultrasonic examination. It was concluded that quality of welds varies from welder to welder and that it is important that welders are properly trained and certified in order to ensure the quality of welding. |
