Abstract

Secondary title: Level of motivation of fifth-graders for school work during first wave of covid-19 epidemic compared to their level of motivation in class
Secondary abstract: In the master's thesis entitled Level of motivation of fifth-graders for school work during first wave of the covida-19 epidemic compared to their level of motivation in class, we wanted to explore how students are motivated to teach and distance learning compared to school lessons and learning. We are interested in the aspects that attract children and their parents in distance learning, what they like about the usual, how in both conditions children tackle tasks, how much help they need and what their opinion is about the motivation for school work. The master's thesis consists of theoretical and empirical work. In the theoretical part we described the concept of motivation, forms of motivation, what is learning motivation, some scientific concepts of motivation and factors that can affect student motivation. In the end, we also touched on distance education and compared it with traditional teaching, among other things, and we also said something about distance education in the Republic of Slovenia during the first wave of the covida-19 epidemic. The empirical part contains a description of the implementation of our research, which we conducted with the help of semi-structured interviews. The results show that, according to students and parents, both school and distance learning have their advantages and disadvantages, but both are more in favor of traditional teaching in school.
