Abstract

V diplomski nalogi so predstavljeni izračuni nosilnosti tal pod plitvimi pasovnimi temelji, različnih širin in globin temeljenja, pri različnih obtežnih primerih.

Secondary title: Bearing capacity - comparison of results of analytical equations and numerical analyses
Secondary abstract: The Graduation Thesis presents calculations of soil bearing capacity under shallow strip foundations of different widths and depths of foundations and various load cases. The results of analytical equations from Eurocode 7 (SIST EN 1997-1) and the results of numerical analyses in the Plaxis program, which is based on the finite element method, are presented and compared. Significant impact on the results obtained by the Plaxis program has the density of the finite element mesh. For certain combinations of parameters and very fine finite elements mesh in numerical analyses, the same failure mechanism is not activated as the one described by analytical equation. In these cases the foundation just punches into the soil. The calculated limit states in the soil in numerical analyses are in most cases higher than the calculated bearing capacity according to analytical equations, but this is not the case in all models. This means that we are not always on the safe side by calculating the bearing capacity of the soil using the analytical equation. When comparing the results of both analyses, we found that the smaller the width of the foundation, the greater the deviation of the results. There is also a larger deviation in the results of analytical and numerical analyses in undrained conditions with bigger horizontal load H and in drained conditions with higher ratio of horizontal and vertical load H/V. With an eccentrically loaded foundation, the deviation of the analyses is much larger than with a foundation that is not eccentrically loaded.
