Abstract

Secondary title: Loaded and empty travel speed of Bijol BWS 160 wheeled skidder in skidding on high karst
Secondary abstract: In our research, we tried to determine the driving speed and develop a model of articulated cable skidder driving speed. The data were collected on wheeled cable skidder Bijol BWS 160 in forest management unit Javornik. We concluded that the driving speed on road is 12% higher than driving speeds on skid roads. We have demonstrated that the muddiness has the biggest impact on driving speed on skid roads. The muddiness was identified in three different categories. Average driving speed is 1,5 km/h slower on wet skid road and 2,3 km/h slower on a muddy skid road, compared to a dry skid road. The driving speed is significantly affected by the longitudinal slope of the skid road, where we established that the speed of empty skidder on level ground is 12% higher than in the uphill category and 22% lower when comparing to the downhill category, while driving speed of loaded skidder on level ground is 54% higher than in the uphill category and 0,18% lower than in the downhill category. Driving speed is significantly affected by load. We concluded that the speed of a loaded drive varies according to the amount of load. Increasing the load by 1t reduces the speed of the loaded drive by 0,21 km/h. We concluded that the developed multivariate linear model provides a good basis for determining tractors driving speed. However, we proposed to monitor additional factors to improve the explanatory power of the model.
