Secondary title: | Preserving Slovenian identity in the province of Trieste |
Secondary abstract: | The topic of this thesis is the Slovenian minority in the province of Trieste. The thesis aims to explain how the province of Trieste managed to create such a compact and homogeneous organization of various institutions, what is the current situation of Slovenes and what obstacles do they face. The legal provisions for preserving the rights of the Slovene minority and the extent to which they are respected or exercised is further researched. In doing so, the thesis determines the role of the country of Slovenia and of the Republic of Italy. Main research question inquires how the identity of the Slovene national minority in the province of Trieste was preserved. Finally, this thesis aims to ascertain the key milestones or factors that influenced the specific development and formation of the Slovenian national minority in Trieste. |
