Abstract

Secondary title: Systematic testing of software
Secondary abstract: The question whether a developed product is one of quality plagues a great number of companies as the integration of quality assurance into organizational processes is still insufficient. However, the mentality that product testing requires staff specializing in quality assurance is gaining ground. Product quality reflects professionalism, dedication to safety and commitment to a good user experience; for this reason, every modern company should also introduce testing of individual products into its processes. When a company decides on that, however, the issues of what kind of tests should be performed and by what kind of staff are at the forefront. The first part of the thesis deals with theoretical aspects of software testing while the practical part conducts research into the practical situation in this field. The theoretical part of the thesis therefore provides an overview of different methods and types of software testing, software development models and automated testing tools. It also discusses how to introduce testing into a company, whether it is worthwhile for companies to hire testers, and to what extent testing is effective. Insight into the situation in practice, however, is provided through a survey based on four hypotheses, which are refuted or confirmed by the answers received.
