Abstract

Secondary title: Analysis of the education system for private security personnel in the republic of slovenia
Secondary abstract: Security is one of the most important human needs and goods and this fact is one of the main reasons why private security companies have begun to develop, offering and providing additional security that the state cannot provide with its mechanisms. Along with the development of private security in the Republic of Slovenia, numerous institutions and companies dealing with the training and/or education of security personnel have also emerged. Like private security, the education system has changed, upgraded and improved over the years. We currently know training for obtaining a national professional qualification for various professions in private security, which also includes specialist and periodic training or advanced training. In addition, we know the high school security technician program and the security engineer college program. The master's thesis deals with determining whether such a system is appropriate and if it represents an appropriate upgrade of the knowledge and competencies of candidates at different levels of training or education. The thesis compares the programs in terms of content, duration and the relationship between theoretical and practical work, focused on the profession of security guard and security manager. The comparisons are supported by the opinions and findings of experts in their field, obtained by conducting a focus group. The subjects of private security in training and education programs are very similar in content, but they are also comparable in terms of duration and relationship between theoretical and practical work. As the programs are not properly upgraded according to the level of education, the programs should be updated, while ensuring the qualification of the providers of the pedagogical process.
