Abstract

To diplomsko delo obravnava razvoj dojemanja časa v starejših zgodovinskih obdobjih. Posamezni koncepti časa so predstavljeni v povzetkih del avtorjev, ki so največ prispevali k oblikovanju razvoja misli do zadnjih stoletij srednjega veka.

Secondary title: Comprehension of Time in Older Historical Periods
Secondary abstract: This undergraduate thesis discusses the development of the comprehension of time in older historical periods. The overview of the development of thought on time is dedicated to the European region and the region of the Arabian Peninsula an its vicinity. Specific concepts of time are presented in summaries of works of authors, that have contributed the most to the development of thought up until the last centuries of the Middle Ages. The chapter, dedicated to antiquity, presents views on time of old civilisations, novelties in Greek and Roman thought and lastly, the forming of Christian thought and influences on it. At the transition between the historic periods, the text deals with the process of forming the reckoning of years after the life of Jesus of Nazareth, that later became a widely used system of reckoning. The chapter of the Middle Ages is dedicated to the Christian influence on thought in Europe, novelties in the comprehension of time at the occurence of Islam and changes in the comprehension of time at the occurence of changes in society in the Late Middle Ages.
