Abstract

Bolnišnične okužbe, povzročene z VRE, predstavljajo po vsej Evropi pomemben javnozdravstveni problem. Prenos in širjenje VRE lahko preprečimo z ustreznimi ukrepi. Mednje sodijo osamitev bolnikov, koloniziranih z VRE, upoštevanje higienskih predpisov (razkuževanje rok, uporaba zaščitnih sredstev), čiščenje in razkuževanje neposredne bolnikove okolice, predmetov in opreme, izobraževanje zaposlenih ter pravilna uporaba antibiotikov.

Secondary abstract: ABSTRACT Hospital infections caused by VRE are an important problem of public health service all around the Europe. Transmission and spreading of infection can be prevented with appropriate measures. These are: isolating the patients who are infected with VRE, following the hygiene regulations (hand disinfection, use of protective means), cleaning and disinfecting the patients´ immediate surroundings, objects and equipment, educating employees and using the antibiotics correctly. The diploma contains the description of spreading of VRE in the world and in Slovenia, appropriate measures for preventing the transmission of VRE and the important role of nurses in treating an infected patient. In the research which was conducted in the Clinique Infectious Diseases and Febrile Illnesses at Ljubljana we ascertained the knowledge of nurses about the VRE infection and the protective measures. The research was based on quantitative methodology; the survey was investigated with a questionnaire. We established that nurses who have been working for a longer period of time also have more knowledge about the VRE infection, its ways of transmitting and protective measures and show less fear of being infected by VRE then the nurses who have been working for a shorter period of time.
