Abstract

Poklic medicinske sestre zaradi usmerjenosti k delu z ljudmi zahteva znanje in obvladovanje komunikacije. Skozi proces komunikacije medicinska sestra razvija svojo osebnost, odkriva pričakovanja starostnikov do nje in njena pričakovanja v odnosu do starejših. V diplomskem delu je predstavljen pomen zadovoljstva stanovalcev s komunikacijo negovalnega tima. Z raziskavo smo želeli opredeliti vrste komunikacije v zdravstveni negi.

Secondary title: RESIDENTS' SATISFACTION WITH COMMUNICATION OF NURSING TEAM
Secondary abstract: The importance of communication has been put to the foreground more and more in personal and even more so in professional life. As a line of work which involves human interactions, the nursing job requires knowledge and communication skills. The process of communication enables the nurse to develop her personality and to discover the elderly person’s expectations together with her own aspirations in relation to the elderly. This BA dissertation outlines the importance of residents’ satisfaction with the nursing team communication. The research attempts to define the types of communication in nursing care and to determine the level of residents' satisfaction with the communication established by nursing team members in nursing home. We measured frequencies of a particular conflict situation arising due to the lack of proper communication between nursing team members and residents. We have come to the conclusion that the residents are not entirely satisfied with the nursing team members’ communication. The reasons for such dissatisfaction usually occur due to neglect of residents’ wishes by nursing team members. A share of the blame for such disagreements could also be assigned to inadequate professional communication. The nursing team members often refuse to listen to the residents and to display the necessary communication skills to prevent conflicts from occurring. The nursing team members’ openheartedness and a desire to interact with the residents, the sole qualities the elderly residents have hoped to find in them, could result in mutual pleasure for both sides. The relations between nursing team members and residents would have been much better if the residents’ wishes had been taken into account more often. The residents, after all, in the first place search for the kind, talkative, patient and understanding nursing team members.
