Abstract

Secondary title: ǂThe ǂharmonic analysis of tall timber building
Secondary abstract: We present the basics of harmonic analysis of structures, along with various damping models, and illustrate this by a simple numerical example prepared and run by ANSYS software. Next, harmonic analysis of the tall timber building called Yoker is presented. Numerical results are compared with the experimental ones, measured by the University of Exeter in the framework of DynaTTB project. We get a satisfactory match between numerical and experimental frequency response functions. In the second part of the thesis, the numerical model of the building, which was used for harmonic analysis, is gradually simplified and modal analysis is carried out for each simplified model. The obtained results are compared with the experimental results by using Modal Assurance Criterion (MAC). In this way, we learn how simplifications affect the modelling error, i.e., the deterioration of the computed fundamental modes.
