Abstract

Uvod: Kontracepcijske tablete so najpogostejša oblika kontracepcije danes.

Secondary title: Effect of oral hormonal contraceptives on the female sexual dysfunction
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Oral contraceptives are the most common form of contraception today. In addition to the main purpose of preventing unwanted pregnancies, these also have positive and negative effects. They have a strong effect on the female sexuality. The purpose of the final work is to represent the impact of birth control pills on female sexuality. Methods: We performed a systematic review of the scientific literature. Literature was searched in the following databases: CINAHL, Medline, PubMed and Science Direct. The course of literature search was shown with a PRISMA diagram. We also performed content analysis and synthesis. Results: Out of 478 identified hits, 9 articles were included in the final analysis. After examination, we confirmed the effect of oral contraceptives on women's sexuality. We found that oral contraceptives affect (1) sexual function, which includes vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, vestibulitis, genito-pelvic pain, and (2) sexual behavior of women, which includes low sexual desire, decreased sexual arousal, FSFI score, frequency of orgasms, sexual enjoyment, number of sexual intercourses, and worsening of sexual life. Discussion and conclusion: Studies have shown that users experience pain as a side effect of oral hormonal contraception. Dyspareunia, vestibulitis and genito-pelvic pain may be present. Oral hormonal contraception also affects vaginal dryness, decreased libido and arousal. The frequency of orgasms is reduced, and the intensity of these is worse. The consequence of all the side effects leads to a decrease in sexual enjoyment, so the number of sexual intercourses is reduced, which leads to a worse sexual life.
