Abstract

Diplomsko delo predstavlja sodelovanje pacienta s kronično ledvično okvaro pri izbiri nadomestnega zdravljenja, katero mu bo v prihodnje lajšalo bolezen in ga spremljalo vse življenje.

Secondary title: CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE PATIENTS PARTICIPATION IN TREATMENT DECISION MAKING
Secondary abstract: This graduation work presents cooperation of chronic kidney failure patients in decision-making about their treatment method that will ease the disease during their life. The significance of chronic kidney failure patient’s cooperation as an important contribution to the treatment success is described. The patient has to be informed about his disease, helped in overcoming problems and prepared for cooperation during treatment. The efficiency of patient’s cooperation during treatment largely depends on his knowledge about the disease. Nurses have to realize that they can significantly contribute to the patient’s knowledge and help them and their families in overcoming problems. Wide range of knowledge about the disease makes patient’s cooperation in choosing the treatment method easier. Patients have to realize that by good cooperation during their treatment they can still maintain a good quality of life. Research was performed by descriptive method of work. As a research instrument an anonymous questionnaire of closed type was used and distributed between three dialysis centres in Slovenia. The acquired results are analysed and presented with diagrams. It was established that the patients had a possibility of cooperation in decision-making about their treatment method, positively influencing their quality of life. Also, it was established, that large majority of patients think that they had enough information and knowledge about their disease and also the option of cooperation in decision-making about their treatment method.
