Abstract

Secondary title: The effect of superabsorbent polymers on the microstructure and self-healing properties of cementitious-based composite materials
Secondary abstract: Concrete quickly took over the world. Nowadays we can not imagine life without it. Despite it's popularity, concrete has few flaws. It is therefore important that we try to eliminate these shortcomings or at least reduce their effects. In this section, I examine the impact of SAP as an additive to cement composites. SAP additive has been found to reduce autogenous shrinkage, promote cement hydration, improve rheological properties, improve self-healing, and increases frost resistance.
