Management strategies for using business intelligence solution imbedded in ERP system in medium sized companies

Abstract

Being mature and more sophisticated management reporting, analysis and decision support integrated in business intelligent require different strategies how it should be implemented as successful support for managers and to add value to the business and to the company. In the article strategies for business intelligence in medium size companies are discussed. Some findings connected to management reporting associated with ERP solutions use are presented. One research study was focused into ERP implementation issues and another in ERP use (acceptance) in their mature stage. Reports generated by ERP solutions are according to respondents suitable for operational BI as well as for BI in higher levels. Especially medium size companies in the sample use add-on BI solutions which allow analytical services and are imbedded in used ERP. Presented case research studies in medium sized companies showed that even if users are satisfied with reports provided by ERP solution quite often also demands beyond pre-defined reports functionality. The companies solve this problem with implementation of add-on'sfor BI with more complex analytical capability.
