Abstract

Secondary title: Effectiveness of McKenzie method in patients with lower back pain
Secondary abstract: Introduction and Purpose: Low back pain is characterized by pain in the lumbar region with possible radiation to the buttocks and thigh. One of the methods for curing low back pain is the McKenzie method. The purpose of this thesis is to establish the effectiveness of the McKenzie method when curing patients with acute or chronic low back pain. Methods: We have conducted a literature review, which encompassed meta-analyses, systematic literature reviews, comparative studies, randomized and controlled trials on the topic of the effectiveness of the McKenzie method in relation to low back pain, published after 2005 in the databases PubMed and Mrežnik (mEga search NUK). Results: We have analyzed 16 studies and came to the conclusion that the McKenzie method is effective only in the chronic phase, however, due to the imperfections of reviewed studies, we have disproved both set hypotheses. Usability: These results are useful when choosing a suitable and effective approach to curing low back pain. Limits: The number of studies on the topic of the effectiveness of the McKenzie method is small. The studies we have reviewed have many imperfections.
